I have incorporated in the body of the Report a mention of the fact that 162 houses have been condemned this year up to date of this Report. Since this Report was written I have condemned other 40 houses, in a similar manner.

There is no other occasion than the races that brings a large influx of strangers, but at China New Year a very large number of the Chinese inhabitants of the Colony go to their native places for a week or two and may on returning bring back infection with them. This festival usually occurs a few weeks before the races, but is a moveable one according to our calendar. This year it occurred on February 10th.
